Final Degree Show: The Opening

On Thursday, the time finally came to throw open the doors to {Un}Lucky 2013, our Final Degree Show. Opening at 6pm, the show went on for two hours on its first night, welcoming visitors from across the country, including industry professionals, creatives and friends and families of us, the students.

We began the evening with a couple of photo shoots directed by our fantastic tutors, Kevin and Bernadine, before returning to our respective display areas throughout the building. For many of us, this was the first opportunity to see everybody else’s work in all its glory, including those from Fine Art and Photography, sister courses to Graphic Design. Seeing friends, family and professionals that I had invited along to the show was massively encouraging, and I’d like to extend my thanks to everybody who came, as well as those who are intending to visit over the next couple of days until the show closes on Wednesday 26th June. We couldn’t have done all that we’ve done without our tutors – Bernadine, Kevin, Alan, Mike and Elizabeth, or our wonderful technical support team, who worked like mad as we approached them in the week running up to completing our exhibition spaces.

I tried to take as many photos as possible on the opening night, so a few are included in this post. I’ve also been invigilating (unofficially) today, so this gave me opportunity to take some more photos and explore the exhibition further.

The rest of the show looked great. The following photos show the rest of the Graphic Design exhibits, as well as some from Fine Art and Photography…

I’ll be blogging about the exhibition in further depth in a couple of days, featuring work from my colleagues as well as the show catalogue that we produced. Keep an eye out!

The exhibition is running until Wednesday 26th June at the University of Chester’s Kingsway Buildings, and is open daily from 10am – 4pm. More details in my previous posts.
